ACADEMICS
Middle School at
Veritas Christian Academy
A private Christian Middle School providing a strong Christ-centered foundation for your pre-teen’s transitional years.
As a parent, you know that Middle School brings on the biggest time of change your child has faced to date. These young men and women are growing and developing socially, emotionally, physically and spiritually. Your child will be forming their identity as they learn to identify and embrace their God-given gifts, talents and interests. This can either be a season of significant growth or challenge, and the right environment can make all the difference.
At VCA, our Christ-centered Middle School is designed to help guide your child through this season of growth. Your pre-teen will learn to better self-advocate, distinguish their strength, grow their faith, and better understand and navigate relationships with their peers and teachers.
“VCA has been a game changer in Reid’s spiritual life. It is one thing to learn about it on Sundays or talk about it in our home, but when his education incorporates God’s love, creation and purpose in the curriculum it makes the bible applicable to our son’s life. He looks forward to seeing his friends every day and feels comfort knowing his teachers care about him and want him to thrive in school.”
– Stacey Hall, VCA Middle School Parent
A Culture Built on Grace
During a time of transition, it is crucial that students feel safe, seen and supported. At VCA, culture begins with strong, authentic relationships. Teachers and staff get to know each child and see when an issue at school may be bigger than things happening in the classroom. These relationships support students as they learn to navigate conflict. Our focus is always restoration and reconciliation. Our culture is built on giving grace to others, just as Jesus models for us.
Biblically Based Character Development
Your student will attend chapel weekly and be challenged by small group questions that reflect on the message. Our classes are taught with a biblical foundation, meaning every lesson points back to Christ. But the true heart of our middle school program is the relationships built between our teachers and students. Each member of our experienced faculty and staff is a professed follower of Christ who cares deeply for their students and helps guide them in academics, friendships and their student relationship with Christ.
Supporting a Smooth Transition
We know how difficult the academic transition from elementary school can be. That’s why we structure our 6th grade differently from the other years of middle school. Our 6th grade students are on a block schedule with three main teachers, one for Science and Math, one for Geography and Bible and one for Reading and Writing. This allows students to get to know their teachers and build a relationship with them. 6th graders have the opportunity to choose between Choir, Band or Orchestra for their performing arts class, but all 6th grade students take the other elective classes including Computer, Art and Physical Education.
In 7th and 8th grade, students move to a more traditional schedule with seven different classes each day, but throughout their time in Middle School, students will have the same teachers for Science, Math, History and English, again allowing for relationship building benefitting both the teacher and the student. Our 7th and 8th graders continue with their performing art selection, but are given the opportunity to take part in other electives like Speech and Drama, Foods and Consumer Science, and Art.
Extra-Curricular Opportunities
Our students are given the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities to help them discover their gifts and passions. We offer 8 athletics opportunities, along with various clubs including: Creative Arts Club, National Junior Honor Society, Junior Eagle Ambassadors and Middle School Worship Band.
